This might be a small duffle bag or briefcase. It should hold everything you need to make your transition, including:

  • Medications
  • Contact information in case of an emergency
  • Cell, iPad and laptop chargers
  • Insurance policies, passports and other important paperwork
  • Basic medical information, such as allergies to medications or foods you and other family members have

Keys to your new place Contact information for your realtor, appraisal, new utility company at your new home and other important numbers you might need at a moment’s notice Also, as you head into the final month, this is a great time to gather all those chemicals that could be hazardous to the environment. Most of our carports have cans old house paint, motor oil and other toxins. Arrange to have them picked up for proper disposal or contact your area environmental office. Feeling overwhelmed with all the “stuff” you’ve accumulated over the years? Consider having a yard sale. It’s an ideal way to bring in a few extra dollars and more importantly, everything you sell is one less thing you have to pack and move. Now’s the time to submit change of address notices with your post office. You might also want to contact utility companies, Department of Motor Vehicles (to have a new driver’s license issued) and any licensing requirements that accompany a physical move from your home state. Physicians, hairdressers, accountants and other professions that require state licensing should be a priority if applicable. Don’t forget the little ones, either. They’ll need their birth certificates an immunization records before you can enroll them in their new school. Finally, the more current your list is, the less likely you are to find yourself in panic mode as time draws near. Feeling overwhelmed with it all?
