It’s certainly no secret that moving is a process that can be stressful for a lot of people. It can be equally as stressful for any pets that you have, especially when they see unexpected activity in the home or when the time comes for them to be introduced to a new one.
Here are three tips to ensure that you have a successful move with your pets:
Talk to Your Vet
Prior to moving, take the time to contact your vet so that you will be able to obtain prescription medications, records, etc. for your pet. Furthermore, if you’re moving to a new neighborhood, ask your vet if they can recommend someone closer to where you’ll be living.
Place Pets in Another Room
While the move itself is taking place, perhaps the best thing to do would be to keep your pets in a more quiet area, such as a separate bedroom or their crate. From there, always take the time to regularly check on them. Make sure you feed and walk them at the time you normally would so their schedule is disrupted as little as possible.
Update Your Pet’s Microchip
Once your move is complete, you will then need to update the tags and microchip of your pets. This information will need to include your new address and phone number in case your pet gets out so they’re returned to the proper home!
